- Australia's first woman to become a Merchant Marine Engineer (1994).
Additional Information
- To become a Merchant Marine Engineer requires a recognised qualification, qualifying sea-time and passing an oral exam. On successful completion of these requirements, the person is then issued a Certificate of Competency. A Watchkeeping Certificate is the first to be obtained. Stephanie obtained her Certificate of Competency (Watchkeeper) in 1994.
- Stephanie was an Engineering Lecturer at the Australian Maritime College 2008-2016 at the University of Tasmania where she also researched Expanding Knowledge in Engineering in the field of Maritime Engineering.
